Psychotherapy for Individuals and Couples

Therapy for the Climate Crisis
My approach
Welcome! I have been practicing for over 20 years, working with individuals, couples, and groups. My approach is warm, empathic, and respectful.
My goal will be to develop a strong positive relationship with you, from which we will develop curiosity and interest about your experiences and challenges in life. By expressing the full range of your thoughts and feelings to me during this process, we will increase your compassion for yourself and others, expand your capacity for meaningful relationships and help you create a more satisfying and fulfilling life.
Please explore my website and call me at 512-680-8259 if you would like to schedule an appointment.

I work with people having all kinds of life difficulties, involving anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, grief, loneliness, career dilemmas, affairs, divorce, parenting, health-related issues, sexual dysfunction, LGBTQ, poly/kink, and climate crisis-related distress.
My approach prioritizes my clients’ needs and goals, bearing in mind that these may change over time. For example, someone coming to me for help with panic attacks might first want to address specific panic-related fears and behaviors. Once these are addressed, they may want to pursue deeper work to understand the more long-standing reasons for their anxiety.
Establishing a strong working alliance, respectful of each person’s experiences, is an essential foundation of my therapy practice.

Group therapy is a very powerful form of therapy because it provides a “live” setting where personality and relationship dynamics are set into motion and thereby become available for experiencing, observing, and modifying moment to moment. Group is incredibly alive!
Because confidentiality and a sense of safety are so crucial for success, I work very hard to build a container where my clients feel the freedom to work effectively. Establishing this base allows my clients to work deeply on understanding themselves and their patterns, observing their effects on others and others’ effects on them, and experimenting with different patterns of expression and interaction.

Climate change is a long-standing interest of mine. It’s an overwhelming and hugely complex issue, affecting every societal system, exacerbating every power dynamic. It’s no wonder it stirs up extremely uncomfortable emotions which many of us resist.
And while resistance to difficult feelings is normal, I’ve found that one of the best ways to feel better is by connecting with others: talking about our experiences and allowing our feelings to be explored and shared. This intimate connection is deeply nourishing and sustaining. Whatever we’re facing, we can have THAT.
